PFS marks 74 years of service

Protestant Family Service recently hosted its annual meeting celebrating 74 years of service to the community. This meeting, hosted by Lockwood United Methodist Church, was the 47th annual meeting for the agency that provides services to families and individuals in crisis.

PFS is a nonprofit social service supported by churches, church groups, businesses and organizations in the community.

The Rev. Greg Calko, minister at Lockwood, gave the invocation after a welcome by the Rev. Maralana Martin, board president. The Rev. Martin delivered her president’s message, and Jacqueline Burley, director of PFS, talked about the origin of PFS by Church Women United.

A business meeting that followed consisted of the approval of the 2017 minutes and the nominating report. The finance report/budget was presented by Harold Blackann, treasurer. The budget of $104,050 was approved by those in attendance.

The following officers were installed: Rev. Maralana Martin, president; Azell Burley, vice president; Cathy Pokrivnak, secretary; and Harold Blackann, treasurer. Other board members installed are Sandra Johnson, Sandra Dean, Joseph Malys, DDS Shirley Megown, Wilena Scott, Rev. Walter Hale, Rev. Gwen Johnson and Lisa Brown. Committee members are John Dellick, Emma Jones, Jewel Black, Karen Hanousek, June Ewing and Donna Hageman.
