The guests met in the auditorium before lunch and socialized with each other. They also had a slideshow of different photos of the students in the school.

West Boulevard Elementary School invited students’ family members to the school throughout the month of March for their “Special Person Lunch.”
Each grade level got to have a special lunch each Thursday of the week. The kindergarten had their lunch on March 1, the first grade had their lunch on March 8, and so on. Students invited their parents, grandparents or another special person in their life.
“It’s a nice way to get the community involved in the school with an enjoyable atmosphere,” said principal Al Cervello. He said the best part of the event is getting to sit down and talk with the students and their guests.
He complimented the cafeteria staff for their work in accommodating each of the students’ special guests for each of the events.
The guests all met in the auditorium, which gave them time to socialize and get to know each other. Cervello walked in and had the guests meet with the students by classroom when it was time for their lunch.
Jackie Johnson, the grandmother of kindergarten student Zackery Johnson, said she enjoyed getting to see what the school is like and meeting with other families. This year was her third year as a special guest. Both of the Johnsons enjoyed getting to have lunch with each other.
The school set up a slideshow in the auditorium and cafeteria. The presentation showed different pictures of some of the students in class and at events in the school.
Each of the four Boardman elementary schools have a special lunch event during the year. West Boulevard Elementary has approximately 100 students per grade level and each of the students brought their own guests.
