Jurors to soon deliberate fate of Shawn Hope

WARREN

Trial testimony and closing arguments have concluded in the Shawn Hope aggravated murder trial, and jurors will soon begin to deliberate on guilt and innocence.

The final witness today was a forensic scientist from the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation who said a shell casing found at the home has DNA on it that could be from Hope but was not conclusive.

Hope, 51, is charged with the Dec. 2, 2016, murder of John P. Keller, 41, of Niles in the hallway of a home on Stephens Avenue Northwest.

Hope is also charged with two counts of kidnapping, accused of taking Keller's fiance and another woman from the home after the shooting. One of the women escaped in Warren. The other was taken to Detroit and later made her way back to Warren to speak to police.
