Red Hat Society to host annual luncheon at country club

String of Pearls, Red Hat Society will host its 12th annual luncheon from 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. April 18 at the Mahoning Country Club, 710 E. Liberty St. There will be 50-50, wine and basket raffles, a “hattitude” stroll and door prizes.

Doors open at 10 and lunch will take place at noon. Tickets are $30 and are available by calling Erma Hart at 330-759-9331 or by email to harte41@aol.com, before Tuesday. The public is welcome.

Trumbull society Speaker Series begins today

Trumbull County Historical Society will host the beginning of the Sunday Speaker Series with the first program at 2 p.m. today at the Kinsman House, 303 Mahoning Ave.

Dr. Katherine Durack, a representative from the Turning Point Suffragist Memorial, a nationwide organization dedicated to bringing a national memorial to honor suffragists by the 100th anniversary of the 19th amendment in 2020, will speak. The lecture will be “Ohio’s Role in Woman Suffrage: Three Reasons to Celebrate BIG.”

Springfield school registration open

Springfield Local Elementary School, 11419 Youngstown-Pittsburgh Road, is now registering students who will be entering kindergarten in the fall.

A child entering kindergarten must be five years of age on or before Sept. 30. Kindergarten screening will take place May 8 and 9 at the elementary building. Call 330-542-3722 by May 4 to make an appointment.

Parents/guardians are asked to take the following documents: child’s birth certificate, Social Security card, immunization records, two proofs of residency and custody papers, if applicable.

Salem Community Center to meet
