Neighbors | Zack Shively.O'Donald's Austintown's events for their St. Baldrick fundraising went all day. They had bands perform in their tent in the parking lot and inside the building throughout the day. O'Donald's has raised more than $100,000 in seven years for the organization.

O’Donold’s Irish Pub and Grill in Austintown had a series of events on March 10 for charity.
The bar organized a 5k race, a basket raffle and a head shaving event to benefit the St. Baldrick’s Foundation, a nonprofit organization that aims funds to help children with cancer.
Eric Broz, organizer of the day’s activities, said “I don’t want to hear someone say ‘my child has cancer‘ ever again,” when asked about why he does the event. Broz has run the program since 2015.
The St. Baldrick’s Foundation funds research grants for cancer centers for children and different treatments for children. The organization donates more money to children’s cancer research than any other organization except the federal government.
The head shaving event ran from 12-7 p.m. Those who shaved their heads helped raise funds for cancer research and show their support for children who have lost their hair during treatment. Some donated their hair, if their hair was long enough to do so. They had 51 people signed up to shave their head before the event and had a number of people who walked up during the event.
The pub set up a tent for local beverages, the basket raffle and a head shaving area. They also had local bands performing throughout the day in both the tent and inside the O’Donald’s building.
This was the seventh year that O’Donald’s Austintown had the event. In those seven years, they have donated more than $100,000 to St. Baldrick’s Foundation, including $25,172 from last year alone.
