Dad: Don't bring 'dope man' to the house

YOUNGSTOWN

A Youngstown man faces charges after an argument with his father about bringing the “dope man” to their house.

Police responded to Humbolt Avenue about 8:30 p.m. Thursday night because a father wanted to press charges against his son, Christopher Smith, 31.

Smith lives with his father, who takes care of Smith because he is blind. The two have had previous arguments about Smith’s marijuana use, according to a police report.

Thursday night, Smith’s father caught him purchasing marijuana and admonished him for bringing the “dope man” to the house, the report said.

The father told police Smith spit on him and he pushed Smith away from him. Smith lost his balance and fell through a table, when he recovered he punched his father in the face, the report said.

Police observed the father’s eye swelled shut when they arrived at the home.

Police placed Smith under arrest on a charge of domestic violence.
