ASSOCIATIONS

Tri-Gold Prime Time Chapter of ABWA will celebrate its 14th anniversary at its meeting Wednesday at A La Cart Catering, Canfield. The Tri-Gold Prime Time Chapter is the combination of two chapters, the Gold Torch Chapter and the Tri-County Chapter. A social will take place at 5:30 p.m., and dinner will follow at 6. The menu includes Swiss steak chardonnaire, chicken francaise, stuffed flounder, redskin potatoes, glazed carrots, tossed salad, dessert, coffee and tea. Entertainment will be provided by Angelo Demarca. Women of the Year will be honored. Articles for the basket auction that will take place in September will be accepted at all monthly meetings. AUXILIARIES

Auxiliary of St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital/St. Elizabeth Boardman Hospital will meet at noon Monday in the private dining room of St. Elizabeth on Belmont Ave. Guest speaker will be Jesse McClain, Holocaust education specialist of the Youngstown Area Jewish Federation. He will present “Doctors’ and Nurses’ Roles in the Holocaust.”

CLUBS

Altrusa Club of Youngstown will meet at 6 p.m. Thursday at the Canfield Library, 43 W. Main St. The meeting will include the final arrangements and assignments for the “Plant the Seed to Read” event that will take place from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. April 14 at Fellows Riverside Gardens. COUNCILS

Youngstown Chapter of the National Council of Negro Women Inc. will host its monthly meeting April 14 at the McGuffey Centre, 1649 Jacobs Road, Youngstown. The executive board meets at noon and the general meeting is at 1 p.m. Tickets also are available for the annual Women of Distinction Luncheon, which will take place May 26.

DANCES

Friendly Squares will host its monthly square dance from 7:30 to 10 p.m. April 14 at the Niles SCOPE Center, 14 E. State St., Niles. Gene Hammond will be the caller and Frankie Hammond will be calling line dances. This will be a high/low dance with alternating tips for new dancers currently taking lessons and tips for more experienced dancers. Dress is casual and light refreshments will be served. GROUPS

World War II Heritage Group will meet at 6 p.m. April 16 for buffet dinner at A La Carte Catering, 429 Lisbon St., Canfield. Helen Laenen was in the Maastrich District of Holland prior to the war breaking out. Laenen was between ages 10 and 12 and will share the story of her family, her prewar and war memories, and the journey of immigration during this perilous time. GUILDS

Youngstown Area Weavers Guild will meet at 10 a.m. Wednesday in the Colonial Inn on the Canfield Fairgrounds. Niles Chapter of the American Sewing Guild will host its 16th annual Spring Extravaganza Style and Creativity Show from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Saturday April 28 at A La Cart Catering in Canfield. An elevated professional runway will be used for the show, featuring three guest designers. In addition to the show, there will be a judged, “Hello Doily” sewing challenge. LEAGUES

League of Women Voters of Trumbull County will host an open-to-the-public meeting at 6 p.m. April 23 at the Howland Library, 9095 E. Market St. Guest speaker will be Ms. Meltzer and will discuss the May primary and some issues on the ballot. The discussion will be followed by a question and answer period. Meltzer was a past president of the League of Women Voters - Kent and is now the secretary for the League of Women Voters of Ohio. As a nonpartisan organization, the League’s main goal is to educate and increase understanding of major public issues. Membership information in the LWVTC also will be available to any interested person wishing to join.

LIBRARY FRIENDS

Friends of the Boardman Library will meet at 9:30 a.m. Monday at the library, 7680 Glenwood Ave. Dr. Ian Renne will speak about global warming. Hostesses will be Angie Guerrieri, Barbara Huberty and Michele Restivo. The public is encouraged to donate books, magazines, CDs and DVDs to help support the summer reading programs. Donated items are collected from 10 a.m. to noon the first and third Saturday of each month.

POLITICAL CLUBS

Trumbull County Republican Party will meet for breakfast at 9 a.m. April 21 at the Buckeye Club, 366 N. Park Ave., Warren. Dave Yost, Ohio State auditor, will be the guest speaker. Warren Women’s Connection, affiliate of Stonecroft Ministries, will host a luncheon from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. April 16 at DiLucia’s Banquet Center, 2610 Elm Road, NE. Speaker will be Sean Posey and will discuss “Theaters of Trumbull County.” Lori Kempton and Ilene Stroup also will be featured. Cost is $10 for first-time ladies and all others are $13. SUPPORT GROUPS

Codependency and Grief Support Group will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the care center of the Kelley-Robb-Cummins Funeral Home, North Main St., Hubbard. Good Hope Lutheran Church, 98 Homestead Drive, Boardman, will host a 13-week grief support series through the GriefShare ministry from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesdays through May 1. The GriefShare team provides a safe, understanding place for individuals to move through their personal grief journeys. Participants need not be church members. Each session is self-contained, so participants may enter at any session. Each session will include videos featuring some of the nation’s foremost experts on grief recovery. Sessions also include small group support and a workbook for personal study. Participants are welcome to share stories, but are never forced. Attendance at consecutive sessions is encouraged for maximum benefit. Cost is $20. Checks should be made payable to Good Hope. Scholarships also are available at registration.
