Despite it being a chilly, rainy day, C.H. Campbell Elementary School students celebrated the school’s annual Beach Day on March 27.

The students didn’t let the rainy weather spoil their fun as they dressed in brightly-colored beachwear for the day. Many students got into the spirit of the day by wearing shorts, sun hats, sunglasses, Hawaiian shirts, Hawaiian leis, straw hats, baseball hats, bucket hats, swim trunks, visors, hula skirts and some even had flowers in their hair.

In the cafeteria, which was decorated with beach balls hanging from the ceiling and many other beach-themed items, tables were cleared away and students enjoyed a picnic-style lunch on their own beach towels and blankets.

“Beach Day is a celebration of Spring. The kids love it,” said Cassie Whitman, Beach Day chair. JoAnna Papalia served as co-chair. Several PTO volunteers also helped with the event.

Following lunch, the PTO provided push-ups for the children as they were ushered into the gym for a dance party with D.J. Anthony. As the music played, students also enjoyed playing with beach balls, hula hoops and participating in the limbo.
