Werks, Williams at Nelson Ledges

Nelson Ledges Quarry Park will present the Earlybird Festival April 20-22, with headliners the Werks (Friday) and Keller Williams (Saturday). Also on the bill of the two-day festival are the John Kadlecik Band, Broccoli Samurai, Zach Deputy, John Welton and the Awakening, Sultans of Bing, Derek Woods Band, Khemocean and the Quasi Kings.

‘A Chorus Line’ class, workshop

Millennial Theatre Company will present “A Chorus Line” masterclass on Saturday from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Stage Door Dance and Theater Academy, 23 W. McKinley Way. The class will be led by Youngstown native Makayla McIntosh, who stars as Vicky on the national tour of “A Chorus Line.”

Attendees will get an introduction to the musical, learn the Baayork warmup and the opening number dance, and take part in a question and answer session with the instructor. There is also an option to add an additional hour of vocal instruction and critique.

Dwayne Johnson on depression

NEW YORK

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson says “depression never discriminates.”

In an interview with the Sunday Express, the actor talks about his struggles with depression and his mother’s suicide attempt after they were evicted.

The 45-year-old says his mother got out of her car on Interstate 65 in Nashville and walked toward oncoming traffic. He says he grabbed her and pulled her to the shoulder.

Johnson reveals he went through his own dark period when injuries ended his dream of becoming a professional football player.He eventually turned to the wrestling ring and began acting in 2000.

Johnson says he and his mother have healed, “but we’ve always got to do our best to pay attention when other people are in pain.”
