Mahoning Engineer posts job listings as possible strike looms

YOUNGSTOWN

The Mahoning County Engineer’s office posted “temporary/intermittent” job openings for CDL drivers and laborers, as the Teamsters Local 377 union threatens to go on strike.

A news release said the start date could be as early as Monday, which is the earliest day the union could strike.

The union voted to issue a 10-day strike notice on March 28. Its membership includes 44 employees from the engineer’s office who perform road maintenance that includes plowing snow and filling potholes.

Upon receiving the strike notice, Engineer Pat Ginnetti said services would not be interrupted by a strike.

The job listings state that the CDL driver position will pay $16 per hour and the laborer position will pay $14 an hour.
