YPD finds gun during traffic stop

YOUNGSTOWN — Reports said police found a stolen 9mm pistol early Tuesday morning in a car pulled over for speeding.

Ashlee Jones, 25, of East Philadelphia Avenue, was booked into the Mahoning County jail on charges of carrying a concealed weapon and receiving stolen property. She is expected to be arraigned in municipal court Wednesday.

A car Jones was driving was pulled over about 2:45 a.m. at East Dewey Avenue and Erie Street on the South Side for speeding. Reports said Jones gave police permission to search the car and the gun was found under the front seat.

A records check found the gun was stolen from Sharon, Pa., reports said.
