Surprise event celebrates 65th for Kalenitses

Frank and Ann Kalenits of Youngstown were honored for their 65th wedding anniversary with a surprise party hosted by their children July 8 at the Georgeanna Parker Center at Boardman Park.

The Kalenitses have five children, Christine Kennedy of Tulsa, Okla.; Judy (Bruce) MacGregor of Mineral Ridge; Mary Jo Mshar of Youngstown; Elizabeth (Clint) Hood of Youngstown; and Frank (Lorena) Kalenits of Las Vegas. The Kalenitses have 13 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. All of their children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were in attendance at the surprise party.

Mr. Kalenits and the former Ann Lawrence were married on April 19, 1952, at St. Brendan Church in Youngstown.

Mrs. Kalenits was employed by General Electric, Gran Lanes, Golden Crust Bakery and the Donut Oven before retiring in 2002.

Mr. Kalenits retired from General Motors in Lordstown from the maintenance department in 1994. He served in both the U.S. Army and Air Force.
