Sept. 14

Arrest: Officers who responded to a man’s request for assistance with his vehicle in the 6000 block of Market Street arrested Laird F. Bruner, who listed addresses on Fourth Street in Struthers and Erie Street in Youngstown. Bruner, 34, was wanted on a Struthers Municipal Court warrant accusing him of failing to appear for arraignment.

Arrests: Authorities booked a 14-year-old Boardman boy on charges of drug abuse, vandalism, identity theft and obstructing official business, as well as Donteill M. Grant, 18, of Ferndale Avenue, Youngstown, on charges of drug abuse and assault after a township man reported someone tossed rocks and struck his van, leaving three dents, then struck his right cheek after he had gotten out to confront the perpetrators. After the arrests, officers found in a cruiser 4.1 grams of a brown substance that tested positive for fentanyl, a report showed.

Stolen property: After responding to a possible theft from a Boardman-Poland Road business, authorities arrested Allison R. Neal, 40, of Ivy Hill Circle, Warren, on charges of receiving stolen property and possession of criminal tools after having pulled her over near U.S. Route 224 and Interstate 680. Found in her vehicle was baby clothing she admitted having stolen, along with a purse to hide the items; also discovered was merchandise that had been taken from three other businesses, a report showed.

Attempted burglary: A woman returned to her apartment in the 7500 block of Oregon Trail and noticed pry marks on her door, indicating someone likely had tried to enter.

Theft: A driver with Fab Cab, a Boardman taxi service, told police a man to whom she had provided a ride to an Oakridge Drive residence fled on foot without paying the $22 fare.

Theft: Someone stole two shirts and an undergarment from Kohl’s, 383 Boardman-Poland Road.

Theft: A Canfield man reported a $450 iPhone missing while at a business in the 1100 block of Boardman-Poland Road.

Menacing: A medical assistant with a Boardman-Poland Road doctor’s office told officers a transfer patient had asked her several times for a date and, after turning him down, he returned on various occasions and stood in the parking lot.

Burglary: Took place in the 100 block of Ridgewood Drive via a side door. A 65-inch TV and a subwoofer were removed from the porch.

Criminal damaging: A Glenwood Avenue woman saw that a passenger-side window to her car had been smashed. Damage came to $100.

Domestic violence: Anthony Direnzo, 49, of Riverside Drive, Boardman, was charged with the crime after his wife alleged Direnzo had spit in her face and threatened to shoot the accuser in the head during an argument about their relationship.

Sept. 15

Citation: Police responded to a possibly inebriated person on Roche Way, where they handed a minor-misdemeanor citation to Cemal S. Yelkin, 35, of Roche Way, charging the Boardman man with disorderly conduct while intoxicated.

Identity theft: A Mayflower Drive woman reported getting a letter from an Orlando, Fla., bank stating a request for a credit card in her name but for which she had never applied was denied.

Theft: Corey T. Vukovich, 27, of Edenridge Drive, Boardman, was charged in the theft of about $101 worth of clothing from Walmart, 1300 Doral Drive.

Unauthorized use of a vehicle: A Stadler Avenue man said an acquaintance borrowed but failed to return his 2011 Chevrolet Malibu.

Theft/criminal damaging: An assistant manager with Hampton Inn, 7395 Tiffany Blvd., reported a guest used a credit card with insufficient funds to pay for lodging, then left after having made a mess of the room.

Theft: Ray L. Burt of Norwood Avenue, Youngstown, was charged with stealing two 32-inch TVs and about $220 worth of additional merchandise from Walmart. Burt, 41, also was cited on a marijuana-possession charge.

Theft: Andres F. Urrego, 38, faced a theft charge. The Hollis, N.Y., man was accused of stealing a $35 shirt from Kohl’s, 383 Boardman-Poland Road.

Sept. 16

Arrest: Authorities arrested Letcher D. Craft, 21, at a Marlyn Place residence upon learning the Cleveland man was wanted on a felony probation-violation warrant from Cuyahoga County.

Theft: A woman reportedly stole 12 shirts valued at $142 from Target, 417 Boardman-Poland Road.

Possible animal cruelty: Officers conducted a welfare check on a dog at a Chester Drive residence and found that the animal was in a cage with neither food nor water, and that no one was home.

Theft/criminal damaging: A Columbus woman discovered a $250 catalytic converter had been stolen off her vehicle while she patronized a Boardman-Canfield Road restaurant.

Domestic violence: Youngstown police handed to township authorities Gaynell L. Grabe, 27, of Kendis Circle, Youngstown, who faced a charge after her mother, of Boardman, alleged Grabe had called her and threatened to come to the victim’s residence and beat her up as part of a dispute between them.

Possible child endangerment: Police received information that a girl about age 12 had been dragged into a McClurg Road business by her hair, though the girl denied any such incident had occurred.

Unauthorized use of a vehicle: A Shadyside Drive man said someone without permission took his 2004 Chevrolet Malibu.

Harassment: A Wolcott Drive man reported that after having posted a facetious comment on Facebook, another man responded in a way that caused the accuser to fear the man could harm him or his son.

Assault: A Red Tail Hawk Drive woman alleged that during an argument, a neighbor grabbed her arm and smacked the accuser’s face, then attempted to kick her dog.

Drugs/weapon: After pulling him over on Doral Drive, authorities charged Brandon L. Mason, 20, with drug abuse, purchasing a firearm while under age 21 and improper handling of a firearm in a motor vehicle after alleging they found in the trunk a loaded 9 mm pistol, along with suspected marijuana in the vehicle. Mason, of Applecrest Court, Boardman, also faced a felony charge of tampering with evidence when, police further alleged, he shoved a torn bag of suspected marijuana through a window in an attempt to hide it.

Theft: A man reportedly failed to self-scan about $100 in merchandise that included a washcloth while at Walmart.

Theft: A Boardman woman left Southern Park Mall and realized a $500 catalytic converter had been removed from her car.

Sept. 17

Breaking and entering: Someone forcibly entered a shed in the 600 block of Afton Avenue, then removed a push mower, a mountain bike and other property.

Domestic violence: Patrick J. Stuckwish, 53, of Kiwana Drive, Youngstown, faced charges of domestic violence, resisting arrest and obstructing official business after his wife alleged Stuckwish had grabbed her throat and dragged the accuser across a floor. He also was confrontational toward and struggled with police, a report said.

Breaking and entering: A door hinge sustained damage during a break-in at a vacant home in the 70 block of Newport Drive.

Theft: A man reportedly failed to self-scan a pair of stainless steel scissors and a recharging system while at Walmart.

Theft: Paul P. Robinette-Nakley III, 19, of Stewart Street, Struthers, was charged in the theft of $70 worth of batteries and video games from Walmart.

Fraud: A Meadowbrook Avenue woman told police she was scammed of $940 after having searched online for puppies for sale.

Weapon: Shortly after handling a large fight in the 400 block of Mathews Road, officers charged a 17-year-old Youngstown boy with carrying a concealed weapon during a traffic stop. A sheathed knife was found in his car, a report stated.

Sept. 18

Drugs: A traffic stop on Market Street led to the arrest of Thomas E. Larkins Jr., 34, of Maple Street, Salem, on charges of possession of dangerous drugs and obstructing official business. Larkins provided a phony name before admitting a bag that contained 31 pills was his, police alleged.

Vandalism: Someone shattered a glass window on the front door to a Trailwood Drive doctor’s office and did about $500 in damage.

Theft: A manager with Zales Jewelers in Southern Park Mall discovered a $1,199 gold necklace missing while conducting an inventory.

Unauthorized use of a vehicle: An attorney representing a township man reported the man’s 1969 Ford Mustang was never returned after having been restored.

Theft: A man reportedly stole a 40-inch TV, a Bluetooth speaker and two other items from Walmart, resulting in a $738 loss.

Theft: A New Middletown man noticed a gym bag missing while he was at a McClurg Road business.

Harassment: A Market Street woman said a man left unwanted text messages after she had dialed his number accidentally.

Theft: Two women reportedly stole $75 worth of merchandise that included an air freshener and a pair of socks from Family Dollar, 4030 Market St.

Theft: A Locust Avenue woman reported a $1,000 catalytic converter had been stolen off her vehicle.

Sept. 19

Drugs: Police responded to a report that possible drug paraphernalia had been left at a South Avenue nursing home before charging Melissa E. Chester, 33, of Main Street, New Middletown, with two counts each of drug abuse and drug paraphernalia after alleging having found in the parking lot Chester slumped in a car, where a pipe with burn marks, two syringes and a substance in a folded lottery ticket that tested positive for heroin were found. In addition, a spoon with burn marks common in drug use and a Percocet pill were found in the nursing facility, a report showed.

Trespassing: An Arden Boulevard man discovered someone entered and ransacked his car, though it appeared nothing had been stolen.
