ASSOCIATIONS

Mill Creek Chapter of the American Business Women’s Association will meet Oct. 10 at A La Cart Catering in Canfield. Networking will begin at 6 p.m., and dinner will follow at 6:30. Cindy Best of Howard Hanna Real Estate will speak about how she got started in the business and the current trends in real estate. The menu will include Southern-baked chicken, Swiss steak, mashed potatoes, peas and carrots, salad, gelatin, applesauce, and for dessert, apple cake. The cost is $18. Trumbull Retired Teachers Association will meet at noon Oct. 10 at Ciminero’s Banquet Centre, 123 N. Main St., Niles. State Sen. Joe Schiavone will be the guest speaker. The scholarship committee will have a bake sale, and members are asked to donate baked goods and arrive early. Members can also purchase table arrangements by Mary Fuller with profits donated to Trumbull Mobile Meals. LEAGUES

The GFWC/Ohio Boardman Poland Junior Women’s League is hosting its second Quarter Auction on Oct. 21 at Saint Nicholas Social Hall, 764 Fifth Street, Struthers. Doors open at 5:30 p.m., and bidding starts at 6:30. Tickets are $10 each, and the proceeds will benefit local charities. Chips, popcorn, water and soda will be available for purchase. LIBRARY FRIENDS

Friends of the Poland Library will meet at 10 a.m. Tuesday for a potluck luncheon after the business meeting and program. Members are asked to take a salad or casserole. Officers will provide dessert. Debbie Liptak, development director of the Public Library of Youngstown and Mahoning County will be the speaker. The topic will be “All That’s New at the Library.” Donations of books, magazines, CDs and DVDs for the Poland Library book cart may be brought to all meetings. POLITICAL CLUBS

Canfield Republican Women’s Club dinner meeting is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. Wednesday with a candidate meet-and-greet at A La Cart Catering in Canfield. John Williams will be the guest speaker. His topic will be Article V (Convention of States) of the U.S. Constitution, and why the Founders believed it was important. Some local candidates will make an appearance as well. Trumbull County Federated Democratic Women’s Club will meet from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Perkins Restaurant, 1953 Niles-Cortland Road, near Eastwood Mall. SUPPORT GROUPS

Codependency and Grief Support Group will meet Tuesday at 10 a.m. at the Chapel of Sheepfold Ministries, 233 North Ave. Sharon, Pa. A meeting also will take place at 7 p.m. at the care center of the Kelley-Robb-Cummins Funeral Home, North Main St., Hubbard. Group sessions are free but participants must register to participate. NAMI Mahoning Valley offers support groups for those who deal with mental illness. Portage County Chapter 600 of International Parents without Partners will host a dinner from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Oct. 7 at the Ritchie Memorial Shelter House pavilion, 109 West Ave., Tallmadge, to celebrate a country western theme. Menu includes sloppy joes, side dishes and dessert. Members and non members are $5 per person. PWP is a single parent support group, with one common point: members are all single parents, whether due to death, divorce, separation or having never been married. The chapters are mainly an educational and family support group, but are active in other endeavors. The members take time to have fun, not only with other adults, but also with their children.
