Herb Alpert, Rundgren and Asleep at the Wheel coming to Kent Stage

Legendary trumpet player Herb Alpert will come to Kent Stage, 175 E. Main St., for a Nov. 8 concert, with special guest Lani Hall. Tickets are $60 and $45 and go on sale Friday at 10 a.m. Go to kentstage.org or call 877-987-6487.

Photo exhibit speaks to gun proliferation

“Hail,” an exhibition of works by photographer Garrett O. Hansen, will open Monday in the Solomon Gallery, inside Bliss Hall, on the Youngstown State University campus, and will run through Oct. 27. Hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. week days.

Hansen is a professor of photography at the University of Kentucky. His exhibit speaks to the fact that roughly 40 percent of the U.S. population owns a gun, and that there are enough guns to arm nearly every man, woman and child in the country. Each of the images is created from individual bullet holes.
