One killed, 3 hurt in N. Side house fire

YOUNGSTOWN

One person died and three others were taken to the hospital for treatment after a house fire early Sunday on Crandall Avenue. According to fire officials, the deceased, an adult female, was found in the house still alive but died later. Also, officials reported that three other occupants of the house were taken to St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital. Their conditions were unknown. According to reports, at least two people jumped off the roof of the house to escape the blaze. Two were found lying in the front yard. The fire was reported about 1:30 a.m. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

I-80 ramp closures

The Ohio Department of Transportation has posted various detours as of today as ramps on Interstate 80 and state Route 62 are closed for repairs. Starting this morning, the ramp from I-80 eastbound to Route 62 east/state Route 7 north is closed through Thursday, reported 21 WFMJ-TV, The Vindicator’s broadcast partner. The detour is the ramp from I-80 eastbound to Route 62 west/ Route 7 south. At 6 p.m. Thursday, the ramp from Route 62/ Route 7 to I-80 westbound will be closed through Sunday night. The detour is Route 62/ Route 7 to state Route 82 west to state Route 193 south.

Financial-aid forum

AUSTINTOWN

The Austintown schools guidance department will host a financial-aid night for college-bound students and their parents/guardians at 6 p.m. Oct. 4 in the Fitch High School cafeteria. Gina McHenry, financial aid representative for Youngstown State University, will inform students and parents about the FAFSA and the financial-aid process when applying to colleges and universities.
