The school year at West Branch Middle School began with the student council officers’ annual planting of mums in the Jennifer Baker Memorial Garden outside the school. The garden is filled with a variety of flowers and shrubs, but the planting of yellow mums has quickly become a welcome tradition. Baker was a teacher at West Branch until she died in an automobile accident Nov. 19, 2009. This is one of the many service projects the WBMS student council conducts throughout the school year. Above, from left, are WBMS Student Council officers Peyton Bell, president, and Kennedy Close, vice president, planting mums.
