Man found dead

Police said a 62-year-old man was found dead inside a home on Dorothy Avenue on Friday evening, 21 WFMJ-TV, The Vindicator’s broadcast partner, reported.

The cause of death is unknown, police said, but noted they are conducting a homicide investigation. The man was discovered by relatives, police said.

Fire damage

WARREN

A house in the 2800 block of Heather Lane Northwest experienced extensive damage in a 10:24 p.m. fire Thursday.

The lone occupant of the ranch-style home near Tod Avenue Northwest escaped before firefighters arrived, and there were no injuries.

The whole house and garage has serious damage, but no loss estimate was available. No information was available Friday on the investigation to determine the cause.

Tuesday meeting

YOUNGSTOWN

The Mahoning County commissioners’ meeting next week will take place at 10 a.m. Tuesday in the hearing room in the basement of the courthouse, 120 Market St.

The weekly staff meeting will follow at 10:30 a.m. on the second floor of the administration building, 21 W. Boardman St.

The commissioners won’t meet on their usual meeting day, Thursday.

Warren Class of 2018

Warren City Schools’ foundation and the Committee of the Warren High School’s Distinguished Alumni Hall of Fame are accepting nominations for the Class of 2018.

“Outstanding graduates” will be inducted at the 26th annual awards dinner May 5, 2018, at Warren G. Harding High.

Honorees will be those graduates who have made significant contributions in their fields, as well as society. Nominees must be a graduate of the three Warren schools – Warren High, Warren G. Harding High or Warren Western Reserve High. Anyone who knows a well-qualified or deserving graduate who has been out of high school for at least 12 years can fill out a nomination form.

Forms can be obtained at the board of education office, by visiting warrenshools.k12.oh.us under “Alumni Hall of Fame,” or by calling 330-544-0431. Mail nominations to the Alumni Hall of Fame, 105 High St. NW. The deadline is Nov. 1.

YNDC filling position

YOUNGSTOWN

Youngstown Neighborhood Development Corp. is seeking candidates to fill the position of construction project manager. That individual works with staff to carry out YNDC rehabilitation and maintenance projects.
