Falcon boys soccer defeat Green

Fitch won 2-1 against Green in an exciting game. An initial laser shot from Josh Egolf put the Falcons up 1-0 ten minutes into the game. Green tied it 20 minutes later off a Chris Silvidi goal. After an even tussle in the second, Fitch junior Dom Foley scored the winning goal and gave the Falcons the win. Junior Varsity soccer also won with a score of 2-0. Goals for the Falcons were Josh Egolf (1) and Dom Foley (1). Assists were made by Blake Baker (1) and Josh Egolf (1) with saves by Trevor Hykes (4).

Boys soccer victorious over Canfield

Fitch won 4-3 in a very emotional and intense game. Striking first was Canfield at the 13th minute mark when RJ Thomas hit a laser into the net. Fitch senior Blake Baker found the net from distance to make it 1-1 at the half. In the second, Baker scored again, but Canfield answered seven minutes later with a Will Files goal. Fitch keeper Trevor Hykes saved a PK and the rebound to keep things level. CJ Sobien scored from a great cross from Mitch Desiato and Baker slotted home a PK to go up 4-2. Canfield senior Alec Simone made it 4-3 when he scored a PK and a couple of Cardinal shots that just hit the bar ended the game with an unbelievable Falcon win. Scorling goals for the Falcons were Blake Baker (3) and CJ Sobien (1). Assists for Austintown were Chad Phillips (1) and Mitch Desiato (1) with saves from Trevor Hykes (7).

Falcons volleyball fall to the Cardinals

The Falcons lost in three sets to Canfield 21-25, 23-25, 14-25. Leading Austintown was senior Khala Cameron with 10 digs, 6 kills and 6 blocks.

Boys soccer victorious

Varsity won 6-2 after being up 1-0 at halftime. This makes the Falcons’ record 4-1. Fitch outshot the Irish 22-7. The junior varsity team also won 6-0. Goals scored by varisty were made by Blake Baker (3). CJ Sobien (1), Dom Foley (1) and Derian Mesaros (1). Assists made by the team were Vince Myers (1), Blake Baker (1) and Mitch Desiato (2), with saves by Trevor Hykes (6).

Falcons volleyball falls to Lakeview Bulldogs

Austintown girls volleyball was recently defeated by Lakeview 3-2. Senior Khala Cameron led the Falcons with 17 kills, 10 blocks, 15 digs and 3 aces. Other standout players for the Falcons were senior Nichole Noday with 19 digs and 18 assists and Junior Lainie Simons with 27 digs and 7 kills.

Varsity Volleyball victorious over Poland Seminary

The Fitch Falcons won three straight sets against Poland. Senior Khala Cameron led the Falcons with nine kills, five blocks, 10 digs and two aces. Other standout playersfor Austintown were senior Nichole Noday with 14 assists and 11 digs, junior Ashley Fuller with 17 digs and junior Lainie Simons with 16 digs, seven kills and three aces.

Varsity girls cross country finishes 14th at invitational

The Fitch Girl’s competed in the Pat Richie Cross Country Invitational on Sept. 9. Leading the way for the Falcons in the varsity race were: Trinity Niznik (22:52), Natalia Novicky (23:48), Megan Krawick (24:32), Sarah Pitko (24:56) and Faith Marscio (25:37) - team placed 14th. The junior varsity team was led by: Julia Mahan (24:18), Arianna Niznik (25:46), Keegan Davies (26:02), Olivia Saxey (26:04) and Katie Rein (27:02) - team placed seventh. Leading the way for the Falcons in the Open race was: Kayla Olinik (24:43), Breanna Crone (26:43), Julia Marscio (27:09), Mia Odom (27:43) and Madison Skelly (28:26) - team placed 11th.

Autumn athletics have arrived and Neighbors wants to be there every step of the way. If you’re a sports coach or the parent of an athlete, we need your help. In order to get teams and players the recognition they deserve, we want to showcase them in our pages.

We can only do that if you commit to sending us game reports and photos each week. If you send it, it will get in.
