Real-estate classes

YOUNGSTOWN

People who wish to obtain licensure as an Ohio real- estate salesperson will have the opportunity to begin coursework in the Williamson College of Business Administration at Youngstown State University this month.

Successful completion of four courses is required to sit for the licensure examination. All classes are offered from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. in Williamson Hall, 221 N. Hazel St. Registration, information and a schedule of classes is available under the continuing education tab at www.ysu.edu/wcba.

Grand re-opening

YOUNGSTOWN

McDonald’s will celebrate the grand re-opening of the newly renovated Fifth Avenue McDonald’s through Thursday.

The fast-food restaurant at 570 Fifth Ave. will have several activities for the grand reopening, including from 10 a.m.-noon today and Thursday customers will have the opportunity to participate in the Spin-To-Win Wheel to win free food prizes; at 11 a.m. a ribbon-cutting ceremony and check presentation with Youngstown Mayor John A. McNally and Youngstown State University President Jim Tressel in attendance; throughout the day Wednesday and Thursday, customers will have the opportunity to enter for a chance to win the following prizes: Xbox One S, mountain bicycles with helmets, YSU football tickets and laptop computers; and from 2 to 5 p.m. Thursday there will be a special appearance by Pete the Penguin.

McDonald’s owner/operators John and Michelle Perdue will donate $200,000 to the Youngstown State University Foundation.

Ribbon cutting

AUSTINTOWN

The Youngstown/Warren Regional Chamber will have a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 3 p.m. Thursday at Austintown Pizza & Chicken, 5205 Mahoning Ave.

Longtime owner of the former Sunrise of Austintown, Don Fowler, decided to switch gears and change the restaurant’s name and look, while welcoming a new partner – Country Music Artist Chris Higbee – to the business.

Guests are invited to meet the owners and try some food at the event. The Fiddler on the Roof will be playing an acoustic set with his family off and on until 8 p.m.

Renewable energy

LORDSTOWN

All of GM’s Ohio and Indiana manufacturing facilities – including the General Motors Lordstown Assembly Complex where the Chevrolet Cruze is produced – will meet their electricity needs through 100 percent renewable energy. GM is buying a total of 200 megawatts of wind energy from Ohio and Illinois wind farms. Once the turbines come online by the end of 2018, renewable energy will power 20 percent of GM’s global electricity use.
