Woman charged with child endangering

Police arrested a woman Sunday evening on child-endangering charges.

Police arrested Yolanda Alvarado, 41, of Catalina Avenue, about 8:40 p.m. at an Eddie Street home on the West Side after police were called to the home for a report of a runaway teenage girl. There, reports said Alvarado told them her daughter had run away from home.

Reports said the daughter told police she was at Crandall Park earlier in the day when her mother showed up, accused her of being with a boy and beat her with a stick and punched her. Alvardo is in the Mahoning County jail. The daughter was placed with a friend of the family after she was treated.
