A man charged with shooting out the window of a woman’s car is in the Mahoning County jail on $50,000 bond after his arraignment Monday in municipal court.
Edward Dubose, 57, of Seneca Avenue, was arraigned before Judge Elizabeth Kobly on charges of being a felon in possession of a firearm and felonious assault.
Dubose is accused of firing shots at a woman’s car about 10:10 p.m. Wednesday as they argued in his drive. Reports said the back window of the car was shot out. The woman was not injured.
Sixth-grader cut on the face on school bus

School officials are reviewing video evidence after a Summit Academy sixth-grader was cut on the face on a city school bus Monday afternoon.
Denise Dick, school district spokeswoman, said the girl was cut after someone threw a plastic candy container and it hit the girl in the face. Paramedics were called to treat the girl after the bus stopped on Interstate 680 south just after the Oakwood Avenue entrance ramp.
The girl was cleaned up and the bus resumed its route. School officials will review video cameras in the bus to see if they can find who threw the candy container and, if the student can be found, disciplinary action will be taken, Dick said.

Detectives are investigating after a 25-year-old man told police he was shot in the hand by the boyfriend of his ex-girlfriend after his SUV was rammed about 12:35 p.m. Sunday at Loveless Avenue and Shehy Street on the East Side.
Reports said the victim told police after he was rammed, the suspect got out and there was a fight before shots were fired.
Two vehicles were damaged by gunfire, and police also collected a shell casing. The victim was treated at St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital.
Shot fired at Chipper’s
AUSTINTOWN
Chaos broke out at Chipper’s Sports Bar and Grille in Austintown after a man allegedly shot a gun at his girlfriend, according to a report from 21 WFMJ-TV, The Vindicator’s broadcast partner.
Police say 69-year-old Richard Bates was arrested early Sunday morning.
The manager at Chipper’s said he was bartending the night of the incident. Bates missed his girlfriend’s head by inches and missed the bartender by about 3 feet, according to the manager.
Bates is booked in Mahoning County Jail on charges of felonious assault and attempted aggravated murder.
Motorist dies after hitting dead horse

Justin C. Alkire, 23, of Niles, died in a single-car crash early Sunday on U.S. Route 322 in Williamsfield Township after hitting a dead horse in the roadway, the Ohio State Highway Patrol said in a news release. Investigators say they don’t know why the horse was in the road. The patrol said the 4:53 a.m. crash occurred when Alkire’s truck hit a horse after swerving to avoid it and lost control. The truck overturned, coming to rest on its roof. Akire, who was not wearing a seat belt, died at the scene.
