Staff report

YOUNGSTOWN

Youngstown City School District’s Aspire program will begin offering free adult-education classes next Monday.

The classes will be offered during the evening at Taft Elementary, 730 E. Avondale Ave., and will allow participants to study to earn a General Educational Development diploma, prepare for college or a career program, enable those for whom English is not their first language to improve their English skills, or allow parents to brush up on skills to help their children with homework.

Classes will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays to coincide with the after-school program for Taft students.

The Aspire program is being offered at Taft in collaboration with the Taft Promise Neighborhood Initiative.

Classes are open to the public, not just for parents of Taft students, and adults may begin classes at any time throughout the school year.

Registration is required. Information is available by calling 330-744-8769.
