BMW CHAMPIONSHIP

LAKE FOREST, ILL.

Given another opportunity to win, Marc Leishman didn’t give anyone much of a chance in the BMW Championship. Staked to a five-shot lead, Leishman made back-to-back birdies late in the final round Sunday to put away the final challenge, then closed with a birdie for a 4-under 67 to set the tournament record. The five-shot victory sends him to East Lake next week for the Tour Championship with a clear shot at winning the FedEx Cup and the $10 million bonus. Leishman finished at 23-under 261, breaking the 72-hole tournament record previously set by Tiger Woods in 2007. The drama was in the race for the top 30 in the FedEx Cup. PGA Tour rookies Xander Schauffele and Patrick Cantlay made key birdies late to get to East Lake.

USA EL DORADO SHOOTOUT

EL DORADO, ARK.

Hannah Green shot a course-record 8-under 64 on Sunday to win the Symetra Tour’s Murphy USA El Dorado Shootout and wrap up an LPGA Tour card. The 20-year-old Australian earned $15,000 for her second victory of her rookie season to jump from sixth to fourth on the money list with $76,290. The top 10 after the final three events will earn LPGA Tour cards. With father Tau serving as her caddie, Green finished at 14-under 205 at Mystic Creek to beat France’s Celine Boutier by a stroke. Boutier, also a two-time winner this season, closed with a 69. The former Duke player earned $9,715 to move from second to first on the money list with $107,876. Green also won the Sara Bay Classic in April in Florida. Four years ago after graduating from high school in Perth, she devised a plan to reach the LPGA Tour. Green also received a $10,000 diamond bracelet from Murphy-Pritard Jewelers.

OTTERSHAW, ENGLAND

Robert Coles scored his fourth point of the week with a singles victory Sunday to help Britain and Ireland beat the United States 10-6 in the PGA Cup on Fox Hills’ Longcross Course. The Englishmen beat Josh Speight of Locust Hill, Virginia, 2 and 1 and Britain and Ireland took 7 1/2 of the 10 singles points to successfully defend the Llandudno International Trophy for the first time since 1984.

SPIJK, NETHERLANDS

Romain Wattel shot a steady 2-under 69 Sunday to finish 15 under and win the KLM Open, the Frenchman’s first victory in 187 tournaments on the European Tour. Wattel, who posted a 7-under 64 to move into contention on Saturday, had four birdies and two bogeys in the final round and parred his final seven holes to close out his maiden win.

EVIAN CHAMPIONSHIP

EVIAN-LES-BAINS, FRANCE

Anna Nordqvist beat unheralded American Brittany Altomare in a playoff under driving rain and hail at the first extra hole to win the Evian Championship on Sunday.

Nordqvist sank a 4-foot putt for bogey 5 on the soaked 18th hole while 102nd-ranked Altomare had a six.The 30-year-old Swede earned $547,500 for winning her first major since the 2009 LPGA Championship.
