Two women face criminal charges after they were treated for heroin overdoses in separate incidents.
Iceleya Square, 30, is in the Mahoning County jail on charges of possession of heroin, possession of drug paraphernalia and endangering children after she was found passed out in the bathroom of a Market Street doctor’s office.
Police were called about 2:25 p.m. Monday where reports said Square went into the bathroom to give a urine sample and when someone went to check on her several minutes later she was passed out on the floor.
Paramedics gave her several doses of the opiate antidote Narcan to revive her. Inside the bathroom police found a needle, a spoon with heroin residue and she had two syringes with her, reports said.
Square was taken to St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital to be examined before she was booked into the jail. She also had several warrants, reports said.
The county children services board was called to find care for the children.
She is expected to be arraigned today in municipal court.
Shortly more than an hour later, officers were called about 3:35 p.m. to a home in the 800 block of Michigan Avenue on the North Side for a report of a woman who was passed out. When they arrived, they found Jody Yaple, 40, of Gypsy Lane, being treated by paramedics for a heroin overdose. She also was taken to St. Elizabeth.
In her purse, police found two needles, a burnt spoon and heroin inside a fast food wrapper. A police hold was placed on her at the hospital.
Reports said Yaple will face charges of possession of heroin and possession of drug paraphernalia. However, as of Tuesday she had yet to be booked into the jail.
