Presentation planned about Black Monday

The Mahoning Valley Historical Society and The Youngstown Historical Center of Industry and Labor present Remembering Black Monday: 40 Years Later, a panel discussion with local historians and community leaders.

New exhibit at Sutliff

WARREN

The Sutliff Museum, 444 Mahoning Ave., announced its newest exhibit, “Musicians and Scholars: The Dana Family of Warren” is now open to the public through January 2018. This temporary exhibit explores the origin of the Dana family. The exhibit features items from the Sutliff Museum and Trumbull County Historical Society collections and photographs from the Trumbull Memory Project. Admission to the museum is free.

Grant awarded

WARREN

Christine Depascale, Lincoln Pre-K-8 sixth-grade teacher in the Warren School District, has been awarded a $7,733 grant from the Toshiba American Foundation.

The grant was approved to fund the purchase of two 3-D printers to assist city school students in solving a real-work problem in the school and/or community.

Students will identify an issue, create a solution using the newly purchased printers and, finally, report their solution to school and/or officials from the city of Warren.

Ox roast scheduled

MERCER, PA.

The Mercer County Historical Society Rural Life Museum will present its annual ox roast. The ox roast dinner, including roast beef, potatoes, beans, a drink and dessert, will take place Sunday at Munnell Run Farm. The cost of the dinner is $10.
