BUHL DAY ART SHOW WINNERS ANNOUNCED

Richard A. Marks won Best of Show in the Buhl Day Multi Media Art Show recently with a painting of his granddaughter titled “Attitude at 18 Months.”
This year’s show was coordinated by Rose Connelly Prample, Ann U’Halie and Dave Zahniser. Mixed-media artist Jeff Piper and photographer Adam Gregory were the judges. Entries included 39 professional pieces, 76 amateur, six young adult and two youth entries making a total of 125 pieces entered and displayed.
Other winners were:
Professional – Ann Kotyk, “Cud-Lee,” first; Greg Myers, “Hot Day In Peru,” second; and Emily Hinkson, “Verrazano Narrows Bridge,” third. Honorable Mentions went to: John Falvo, “Singing Barbershop Quartet”; Kate Turek-Frissora, “The Undecided Ostrich”; Dave Zahniser, “Grandfather Skating on Pond Clearing”; and Kate Turek-Frissora, “A Fish Sandwich.”
Amateur – Joan Vasconi, “Self Absorbed,” first; Grant Wesley, “Rossi’s Barber Shop,” second; Jean Nye, “Looking After Each Other,” third. Honorable Mentions went to: Pat Fridley “Julia’s Bridge”; Margo George, “A Young WWI Soldier”; and Liza Catania, “Baby Char.”
Young adult (age 13-17) – Max Schaller, “HA,” first; Max Schaller, “Buffalo in the Snow,” second; Max Schaller, “The Dark Knight,” third. Honorable Mention – Emma Barborak, “Leo.”
Youth (age 11 and under) – Makenna Marks, “I Love Lake Latonka,” first and Mia Labbiento, “Norman,” second.
The People’s Choice Award went to “Rossi’s Barbershop” by amateur Grant Wesley.
The winning pieces are on display during this month at Cravings, 76 Shenango Street, downtown Sharon.
Preparations for the Sept. 3, 2018, show will begin soon. Entries will be accepted Aug. 31, 2018. Anyone interested in volunteering with the show should contact Rose Connelly Prample at rcp.finearts@gmail.com
