UMCC celebrates 95 years of service

The United Methodist Community Center is hosting a celebration of the center from 6 to 9 p.m. Oct. 19 at Our Lady of Mount Carmel, 343 Via Mt. Carmel, with “A Night of Jazz” featuring Chantae Cann, a jazz recording artist.

This will mark the anniversary celebration of 95 years of service to the women, children, veterans and others in need in the Mahoning Valley. The center is in a covenant relationship with the national organization of the United Methodist Women that provides some of the funding to support ministries through centers in Youngstown and Warren.

This celebration is an opportunity to recognize the contributions of the center, the difference it makes in people’s lives and the future goals for reaching more people. The center seeks “the least of these” in the community, especially those who fall through the cracks of other programs and are in desperate need of various resources.

The center offers hope and seeks to teach, develop and empower individuals and families.

Tickets are $100 for food and music. Vendors can showcase their desserts at the “Sweets & Treats” tables. Sponsorships are available to help support the work of the center. Sponsor levels are: bronze, $200-$499; silver, $500-$999; gold, $1000-$2999; diamond, $3000-$4999; and platinum, $5000 and up.
