CANFIELD

Anthony J. Zircher, 45, of Callahan Road, is free on bond after authorities said he was the driver of an SUV involved in a crash that killed 5-year-old Jocelyn Grace Gesell, a passenger in a Toyota driven by her mother, Britney Lee Byrley, 24, who was injured in the crash along with an infant.

Jocelyn was flown by medical helicopter to a Dayton hospital where she later died, reported 21 WFMJ-TV, The Vindicator’s broadcast partner.

Zircher is charged with reckless homicide in the May 11 crash. According to the Indiana State Police, Zircher was driving north in a no-passing zone in Wayne Township, Ind., had just passed a pickup truck over a double yellow line and was about to pass a second vehicle along state Route 227 when he ran head-on into Byrley’s southbound vehicle, reported 21 WFMJ-TV.

Zircher was arrested in Canfield last month and appeared in an Indiana courtroom where his bond was set at $12,500. His next court hearing is scheduled for Nov. 16.
