POLICE CALLS

A summary of recent criminal activity in Hubbard, Liberty and Girard:

HUBBARD

Aug. 31

Arrest: A traffic stop in the 600 block of North Main Street resulted in a charge of driving under suspension against Jorge L. Figueroa-Gonzalez, 26, of Coal Township, Pa.

Criminal damaging: A bench sustained minor damage at a baseball field off Myron Street.

Identity fraud: A Hillview Drive man found out his Social Security number and personal information had been used without consent to buy about $2,610 worth of furniture in or near Williamsville, N.Y.

Sept. 3

Drugs: A vehicle check in the 700 block of North Main Street led to a minor-misdemeanor citation charging Mark D. Takash II, 24, of Pothour-Wheeler Road, Hubbard, with marijuana possession. Takash had a bag with a small quantity of suspected marijuana on top, a report said.

Sept. 5

Citations: While conducting a traffic stop near School Street, officers handed minor-misdemeanor citations to Megan M. Maxwell, 26, of Steubenville, charging her with driving under suspension and operating an unsafe vehicle.

LIBERTY

Aug. 31

Identity theft: A Church Hill Road man learned that his credit card had been used without authorization at four area gas stations to rack up about $377 worth of fraudulent charges.

Theft: A Girard man told police a man on a bicycle stole his $150 iPod from his car at a Belmont Avenue fast-food establishment.

Sept. 1

Drugs: Officers responded to a possible drug overdose in the 3000 block of Goleta Avenue and charged Kristopher P. Rafferty, 30, with possession of a drug-abuse instrument. Rafferty, of Goleta, Liberty, had a syringe in his pocket that he admitted having used to inject heroin, a report showed.

Theft: A Mill Run Drive man discovered various golf clubs and a bag missing from his garage.

Theft: A Shannon Road man noticed someone had removed about $36 worth of gasoline from his car.

Sept. 2

Assault: A Youngstown woman alleged another woman pulled her hair during a dispute at a wedding reception in a Belmont Avenue motel.

Harassment: A Logan Way woman said an acquaintance whom she had met on Facebook has sent her unwanted text messages.

Burglary: Someone entered a vacant home in the 400 block of Arbor Circle and took about 150 feet of copper piping.

Drugs: Authorities responded to a possible drug overdose at a Belmont Avenue restaurant, where they charged Nicoletta M. Spagnola of Ridgeway Street, Struthers, with possession of a drug-abuse instrument after alleging Spagnola, 31, had an uncapped syringe in her car. She was given two doses of Narcan to reverse or block the effects of opioids, a report stated.

Citation: After stopping a vehicle near state Route 711, officers cited Nicole I. Powell, 43, of Lakeview Avenue, Youngstown, on a charge of having a bag of suspected marijuana.

Sept. 3

Arrest: Police answered a call about a car having struck a tree near Tibbetts-Wick Road, then charged Marcus Belton, 35, of Berkshire Drive, Warren, with operating a vehicle impaired.

Assault: A Youngstown woman alleged an acquaintance twice touched her inappropriately while they were at a Belmont Avenue restaurant.

Domestic violence: Arthur L. Johnson, 63, of Fifth Avenue, Youngstown, was charged with the crime after a woman alleged an enraged Johnson had tossed several glass bottles of perfume and a coin bank at her, leaving cuts on her feet. The accuser further alleged Johnson had threatened to shoot her.

Sept. 4

Arrest: While responding to a vehicular crash near Belmont Avenue and Gypsy Lane, police charged David L. Hodges of Sunshine Avenue, Youngstown, with operating a vehicle impaired. Hodges, 38, registered a 0.263 blood-alcohol content, which is more than three times Ohio’s 0.08 legal intoxication limit, a report showed.

Menacing: A Potters Circle man told police another man had threatened to beat him up as the accuser walked with another person on a nearby trail.

Sept. 5

Arrest: Authorities picked up Howard Ahart, 54, as he was walking on state Route 193. Ahart, of Lloyd Avenue, Liberty, was wanted on a township warrant charging failure to appear in court.

Burglary: To an apartment in the 3100 block of Hadley Avenue, likely through a kitchen window. A flat-screen TV, a boys bicycle and a T-shirt were missing.

Theft: A temporary tag was removed from a vehicle in the 5600 block of Sampson Road.

GIRARD

Sept. 4

Vandalism: An officer on routine patrol in a cemetery off U.S. Route 422 noticed that two tombstones had been knocked over.

Domestic violence: Jenny E. Dove, 38, of Hazel Street, Girard, was charged after her daughter alleged Dove returned home, then struck her repeatedly in the chest area and scratched her right eye.

Sept. 5

Arrest: Authorities picked up Christopher Cordero, 30, at the Mahoning County jail. Cordero, of South Garland Avenue, Youngstown, was wanted on a Girard warrant accusing him of failing to appear in court.

Harassment: A North Ward Avenue woman said a relative whom she had asked to baby-sit her son has sent her text messages, some of which were vulgar in nature.

Criminal mischief: A man returned to his Morris Avenue residence and saw that a portion of down spouting had been crushed and flattened in the middle.

Domestic violence: Jesse McQueen, 62, of North Avenue, Girard, faced a charge after a woman alleged McQueen slapped her face and made a threat against the accuser after becoming enraged when she had asked him to leave the residence.

Drug paraphernalia: Police received a 911 call about a possibly unresponsive male at an Ohio Avenue residence before officers reportedly seized suspected marijuana pipes and other contraband in the home. No charges were filed at the time of the report, however.

Overdose: Officers responded to a possible drug overdose in the 400 block of East Kline Street, where a man was reportedly found unresponsive in a bedroom with shallow breathing and a blue complexion. The victim was administered Narcan and taken to St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital.

Unauthorized use of a vehicle: A Church Hill Road woman said she loaned her 2004 Chevrolet to a friend who has failed to return the car.

Sept. 6

Overdose: Authorities answered a 911 call that a Girard girl may have overdosed on her medication before the teen said she had taken 15 to 20 anti-anxiety pills and was taken to St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital.

Assaults: A South Davis Street woman alleged a man hit her numerous times during a heated argument. A second woman alleged the man pushed her to the ground as she tried to intervene.
