Living Treasures welcomes baby giraffe


NEW CASTLE, PA.

Living Treasures Wild Animal Park, 268 Fox Road, welcomed the first giraffe calf to be born in western Pennsylvania in many years at 5:31 p.m. Aug. 27.

The calf, named Calvin, measured 6 feet 3 inches tall and weighed about 145 pounds. Calvin has not yet made his public debut.

The park will make regular announcements on its

Facebook page to alert fans when Calvin will be out in the park’s giraffe yard. Times are expected to vary based on weather conditions and the health and cooperation of the giraffe’s family.

The park is open daily from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. through October, and from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. in November until the end of the season. Admission rates are $15.99 for adults, $12.99 for children age 3 to 11, and $13.99 for seniors 62 and older. Children age 2 and under get in free.
