YOUNGSTOWN

Dominion Energy Ohio and the Dominion Energy Charitable Foundation will award $110,000 in unrestricted grants to area nonprofits that have made a difference in the communities the company serves. The grants are offered through the 23rd annual Community Impact Awards competition, sponsored by Dominion Energy and Cleveland Magazine.

Entries will be judged by a group of community leaders from Dominion’s service area. Winners will be recognized in the March issue of Cleveland Magazine. The entry deadline is Nov. 30. For more information, including online entry procedures, visit www.DominionEnergy.com, search: impact.

Employer grants

YOUNGSTOWN

Fourteen Ohio employers will share $375,000 in grants from the Ohio Bureau of Workers’ Compensation to purchase equipment designed to substantially reduce or eliminate workplace injuries and illnesses.

In Mahoning County, A R Schopp’s Sons Inc. of Alliance received $13,887.61 to purchase lift tables to reduce the risk of injury; and Berlin Township received $36,377.45 to purchase a Power Load and Power Cot Systems and a Pro Stair Rescue Chair to reduce the risk of injury.

Clean Ohio Funds

YOUNGSTOWN

The Eastgate Regional Council of Governments recently announced the state of Round 12 of the Clean Ohio Funds. The total amount of available funds for Round 12 is $712,363. Pre-applications for Round 12 are being accepted now through 3 p.m. Oct. 13. Applications received after the 3 p.m. deadline will not be accepted.

Eligible applicants for Clean Ohio Funds include local political subdivisions and nonprofit organizations.

Event at Menards

WARREN

Menards has invited local contractors into the store to educate customers on how they can assist with home-improvement ideas and projects. The three-day “Local Contractor Connection Event” will take place at Menards home-improvement stores, including the local Menards at 2015 Wal-Mart Drive NE.

The event takes place from 4 to 8 p.m. Sept. 12-14.

BWAY closing

HUBBARD

BWAY Corp., in a filing with the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services, has developed plans to close its Hubbard facility located at 644 Myron St. in Hubbard.

Layoffs are expected to begin on or about Nov. 1, or during a 14-day period beginning on that date. The company anticipates that these changes will be permanent, and the entire facility will be closed. About 55 employees are expected to lose their jobs. Bumping rights are not available for affected employees.
