Police cut through tale behind saw theft; pair arrested
AUSTINTOWN — An employee at an area agricultural store pursued two alleged shoplifters who intended to sell stolen merchandise for heroin Wednesday afternoon.
Brad Ruozzo is charged with theft, and Terra Donnely is charged with complicit to theft for knowingly driving during Wednesday's incident, the report said.
Police received a call from an employee from Tractor Supply Company, 6225 Mahoning Ave., stating they had witnessed a man take a Dewalt Saw, valued at $199.99, from the business's loading dock, the report said.
The employee followed Ruozzo and Donnely until police stopped their vehicle, the report said.
Upon approaching the stopped vehicle, police reported that Ruozzo said "[T]he saw was next to the dumpster, c'mon (sic) it is what it is."
Ruozzo told police he planned to sell the saw for money or drugs, the report said.
Both have court dates set for Sept. 20 at 9 a.m.
