CLEVELAND BROWNS
DT McGill charged with pot possession
CLEVELAND
Cleveland Browns defensive tackle T.Y. McGill has been charged with misdemeanor marijuana possession in North Carolina.
A team spokesman said the Browns have spoken directly about the criminal complaint with McGill, who was claimed off waivers last week from Indianapolis. It’s not clear if McGill’s legal issue will affect his status with the Browns. He’s also subject to discipline by the NFL.
McGill has a court appearance scheduled for Oct. 24. The Browns were not aware McGill had been charged before they claimed him.
The 24-year-old McGill spent the past two seasons with Indianapolis after entering the NFL in 2015 with the Seattle Seahawks as an undrafted free agent. The former North Carolina State player appeared in 25 games with the Colts, recording 17 tackles and five sacks.
ARIZONA CARDINALS
Veteran guard Boone signs one-year contract
TEMPE, ARIZ.
The Arizona Cardinals have beefed up their offensive line by signing guard Alex Boone to a one-year contract.
The 6-foot-8, 310-pound Boone started 14 games for Minnesota last season after signing a four-year, $26 million contract with the Vikings. But the offensive line struggled and the Vikings released him in the final roster cuts last week.
Before going to Minnesota, Boone played his first seven NFL seasons with San Francisco. He played in 77 games for the 49ers, 59 as a starter. He was the starting guard in the 49ers’ Super Bowl game against Baltimore.
MIAMI DOLPHINS
Bucs-Dolphins game to be moved or postponed
DAVIE, FLA.
The Miami Dolphins’ season opener against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers will not be played in Miami this week, but may be moved to a neutral site because of Hurricane Irma, the NFL said Tuesday.
If the game is not relocated, it will be postponed until November, when the teams share the same bye week.
Kickoff had been scheduled for Sunday at 1 p.m., but Irma is forecast to threaten South Florida this weekend
