Trumbull elections board: Bowser can stay on ballot
Staff report
WARREN
The Trumbull County Board of Elections ruled Keith Bowser can remain on the ballot in his bid for re-election to the Champion Township Board of Trustees in November.
The board had a hearing Tuesday and ruled against an appeal to Bowser’s candidacy.
Dr. Gina Reghetti appealed the decision of the board to certify Bowser’s candidacy last month despite an error on a nominating petition.
An incorrect date was entered on a petition, but the error was deemed not significant enough to remove him from the ballot, said Stephanie Penrose, elections board director.
Meanwhile, the board certified the list of people who filed as write-in candidates to be eligible to receive votes for the Nov. 7 general election.
Among them are Patrick Layshock, former Newton Falls mayor, who filed to be a write-in for council-at-large.
