NEW WILMINGTON, PA.
Sophomore Heidi Hoffman (McDonald) finished ninth in the 138-runner field to lead the Grove City College women’s cross country team to a fifth-place finish in the nine-team Westminster Fisher Invitational in the Wolverines’ season-opening meet. Hoffman completed the six-kilometer course in 24 minutes, 5.35 seconds to lead the Wolverines. Junior Maggie Bauman finished 22nd in 24:54.66 while freshman Denali Hutzelmann was two spots back in 24th with a mark of 25:04.83 in her first race as a Wolverine. Freshman Molly Sears was 30th in 25:22.55, and sophomore Madison McKivergan took 27th with a time of 25:46.40 to round out Grove City’s scoring five. Freshman Hannah Fellenbaum and sophomore Madelyn Kimpel (South Range) were 40th (25:52.27) and 41st (25:52.88), respectively. Mercyhurst’s Molly Kennedy claimed the individual title with a winning time of 23:24.11. Waynesburg earned the team victory with 42 team points.

Ohio Dominican women’s soccer sophomore defender Cheyenne Story (Canfield) earned Panther of the Week honors after recording 180 minutes played in two starts against GLVC opponents Quincy and No. 11 Truman State on Thursday and Saturday. Story helped anchor a defense that allowed just one goal in the two matches and defeated No. 11 Truman by a final mark of 2-0, holding the Bulldogs to just six total shots and three over the final 80 minutes. Story, who majors in biology and chemistry, has started in all 21 matches at defender in her two seasons as a Panther.
