Local vigil to protest DACA dismantling is 5 p.m. today

YOUNGSTOWN — Several concerned citizens of the Mahoning Valley have planned a vigil for 5 p.m. this afternoon on Federal Street downtown.

Spokeswoman Vicki Vicars said, "We believe that the dismantling of the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals will tear families apart, create chaos in communities and is quite frankly, un-American."

Those participating in the vigil say that play to initiate an action plan to petition Congress not to end the program. Nearly 800,000 individuals have benefited from DACA.
