The Trumbull County Historical Society will participate in the Museum Assessment Program, administered by the American Alliance of Museums. Through guided self-study and on-site consultation with a museum professional, participation in MAP will empower TCHS to better serve the citizens of Trumbull County.
“Choosing to be part of the MAP program is indicative of the commitment to civic involvement, public service and over-all excellence on the part of the Trumbull County Historical Society,” said Laura Lott, president of AAM. Since its creation in 1981, the MAP program has served more than 4,600 museums.
The TCHS maintains the oldest remaining home in Warren, the John Stark Edwards House built in 1807. It provides tours of the home for residents and tourists, develops exhibits with Trumbull County Museum, preserves a collection of 15,000 items, provides classes and field trips for students, operates a historic building plaque program, and acts as the advocacy arm for Trumbull County history.
The John Stark Edwards House is open for public tours Thursday through Saturday from 1 to 4 p.m. For information, visit trumbullcountyhistory.org or call 330-394-4653.
