Free ‘Safe Talks’
YOUNGSTOWN
The Mahoning County Domestic Relations Court will offer “Safe Talks,” a domestic-violence prevention and awareness program.
The talks will take place every Wednesday from 10 to 11 a.m. in the lower level of the Mahoning County Courthouse, 120 Market St.
A series of four sessions will begin Wednesday and repeat each month. They are free and open to the public.

MVHS plans events to mark birthday

The Mahoning Valley Historical Society will mark its 142nd birthday with a free open house next Sunday from noon to 4 p.m. at Tyler History Center, 325 W. Federal St., downtown. A previous notice gave the wrong date.
The Young Leaders Advisory Board will conduct historical walking tours of the downtown area at 12:30 and 2 p.m. The event also will feature a local history fair with displays from the McKinley Memorial Library, Canfield Historical Society, Niles Historical Society, Melnick Medical Museum, Youngstown State University Archives and the Youngstown Historical Center of Industry and Labor.

Toys for Tots site
COLUMBIANA
American Legion Post No. 290, in conjunction with the Marine Corps, will offer a drop-off site for the collection of Toys for Tots during the 131st annual Columbiana Street Fair, which runs from Thursday to Saturday.
With the addition of the Marine helicopter unit to the fair, the partnership to open a drop-off site for the Toys for Tots program was simple. Drop-offs will be collected at Firestone Park on Friday during the Squadron 773 visit and at the American Legion tent for the duration of the street fair.
Marine Light Attack Helicopter Squadron 773 will land at Firestone Park at about 9 a.m. Saturday.
Happy Trails event
RAVENNA
Happy Trails Farm Animal Sanctuary, 5623 New Milford Road, will host an open house from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sept. 17.
Attendees will be able to feed a horse, pet a pig, hold a rooster, meet the staff and volunteers, become part of the team and enjoy refreshments, giveaways and more.
Shuttle service and parking will be available at Ravenna High School, 6589 N. Chestnut St. Admission is free with registration.

‘Titan Tie Dye Run’
NEW WILMINGTON, PA.
Westminster College’s Student Alumni Association will sponsor its first “Titan Tie Dye Run,” a one-mile run around the college’s campus. The run takes place Sept. 30, starting at Memorial Field House.
Check-in and same-day registration begin at 9:45 a.m. The run begins at 10:30 a.m. Registration is $5 per runner/walker.
Throughout the route, runners will be “powdered” with washable dye and should choose running attire with that in mind. The event is appropriate for children and adults of all ages.
Registration is available online and payment can be made the day of the event or sent to the Wiley Alumni House, 319 S. Market St., New Wilmington, Pa. 16172. Checks should be made payable to Westminster College.
Reservations are due by Sept. 22.
