Youngstown police seize guns and drugs in raids


YOUNGSTOWN

Vice squad and Community Police Unit officers Thursday serving search warrants investigating drug activity at two separate homes seized a total of seven guns along with drugs.

About 5:15 p.m. at a 956 Glenmont Ave. home, police found a revolver, an MK 1 Smith and Wesson handgun, a 7.62mm assault rifle and a .50-caliber muzzle loading rifle.

Also found in the home was nine pills, a digital scale, three bags of fentanyl and 21 bags of marijuana along with four children ages 14, 9 and two 7-year-olds. They were left in the care of relatives.

Arrested on a charge of trafficking in marijuana because he was found next to the marijuana is Andree Bowers, 41, of Superior Street. Arrested on two counts of possession of drugs and being a felon in possession of a firearm was Raymond Jones, 35, who reports said listed the home as his address.

About 7 p.m., officers serving a warrant at a 46 W. Princeton Ave. home found three scales, a bag of heroin and an individual dose of heroin, three pills, a bag of marijuana and three handguns; a .40-caliber Smith & Wesson, a .357 Smith and Wesson revolver and a .38-caliber revolver whose make was not listed.

Arrested there on charges of being a felon in possession of a firearm, possession of drugs, two counts of possession of heroin and possession of marijuana is Deray Johnson, 30, who reports said lists the home as his address.

All three men are in the Mahoning County jail and expected to be arraigned later today in municipal court.
