Man sought on South Carolina sex charge arrested at Canfield Fair


CANFIELD

A man wanted on a child sex charge from South Carolina was arrested by U.S. Marshals Thursday at the Canfield Fair.

A spokesman for the U.S. Marshals Northern Ohio Fugitive Task Force said Brandon Walsh, 30, was arrested about 5 p.m. at a ride he was operating near the Pioneer Village at the fair.

The spokesman said deputies from the Mahoning County Sheriff’s Offfice, troopers from the Ohio State Highway Patrol, Canfield police and fair police also assisted. Troopers blocked all the exits and Canfield police set up a perimeter while fair police and deputies searched for and found Walsh.

The marshals then arrested Walsh, the spokesman said. He was taken into custody without incident. He is being held in the Mahoning County jail pending extradition to South Carolina.

U.S. Martshals in South Carolina had information Walsh may have been at the fair, and they forwarded that information to their counterparts in northern Ohio, the spokesman said.
