ASSOCIATIONS

American Association of University Women of Youngstown will resume its meetings for the year at 10 a.m. Sept. 9 at Sunrise Assisted Living. Mill Creek Chapter of American Business Women’s Association will host its Sept. 12 meeting at A La Carte Catering in Canfield. Networking will begin at 6 p.m. and dinner will follow at 6:30. Girard Knights of Columbus Men’s Council No. 2935 will meet at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the K of C Hall, 122 N. State St. The men use the basement meeting room.

Seton Circle, Junior Seton, Seton III, Seton IV and Junior Seton Circle will celebrate its annual opening Mass in honor of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton at 10:45 a.m. Sept. 10 at St. Charles Church in Boardman. Seton III will be hostess of the Mass and a luncheon will be served in St. Matthews Hall after the ceremony. Higher Ground, an active, outdoor group, sponsored by Unity Center for Spiritual Living, 1226 Naylor Lloyd Road, Girard, is taking a trip to Oil City State Park at 10 a.m. Sept. 9. Codependency and Grief Support Group will meet Tuesday at 10 a.m. at the Chapel of Sheepfold Ministries, 233 North Ave. Sharon, Pa. A meeting will also take place at 7 p.m. at the care center of the Kelley-Robb-Cummins Funeral Home, North Main Street, Hubbard. Group sessions are free but participants must register to participate. Friendship Train 12-Step Support Group meets from 1 to 2 p.m. Wednesdays at Rising Star Baptist Church, 2943 Wardle Ave., Youngstown. NAMI Mahoning Valley offers support groups for those who deal with mental illness. Portage County Chapter 600 of International Parents without Partners will host its monthly dance from 7:30 to 11 p.m. Saturday at the Ritchie Memorial Shelter House, 109 West Ave., Tallmadge. Music will be by disk jockey Mel. Monthly dances are open to the public, and non members are invited to join the PWP members to celebrate the September dance theme “Back to School Days Sock Hop.” Cost for members $6 and non members $8.

Portage County Chapter 600 of International Parents without Partners will host its annual picnic at noon Monday at the Ritchie Memorial Shelter House pavilion, 109 West Ave., Tallmadge. Members and non members are invited. Attendees are asked to bring a covered dish to share. The chapter will furnish hamburgers, hot dogs, buns and the fixings. PWP is a single parent support group, with one common point: members are all single parents, whether due to death, divorce, separation or having never been married. The chapters are mainly an educational and family support group, but are active in other endeavors. The members take time to have fun, not only with other adults, but also with their children.
