The Youngstown Water Department will begin cleaning and washout of the water tank located on Erskine Avenue on Saturday and Sunday.

The draining process for the tank began Monday. The refilling process will be completed by Nov. 10.

During this two-week period, it is likely some customers on the South Side of Youngstown and Boardman will experience lower-than-normal water pressure, according to a news release from Dan Blakely, engineering assistant for the city.

Applicants sought

Judge Robert N. Rusu Jr. of Mahoning County Probate Court is seeking applicants for a seat on the Mill Creek MetroParks board after John Ragan said he will not seek reappointment when his term expires Dec. 31.

Interested candidates must complete a written application and file it at the probate court by 4:30 p.m. Nov. 15. Applications can be obtained from the court or at probate.mahoningcountyoh.gov.

Coalition meeting

YOUNGSTOWN

The second meeting of Krish Mohip’s CEO Coalition will be at 6 p.m. Wednesday in the library at East High School, 474 Bennington Ave.

More than 50 people applied to participate on Mohip’s coalition, which met for the first time last month. The group was divided into four smaller panels each of which selected a chairman or chairwoman.

At the first meeting, Mohip asked the group for input regarding the use of metal detectors at the high schools and the new student code of conduct.

Dedicated to Leo

LIBERTY

Kravitz Delicatessen, 3135 Belmont Ave., will dedicate National Sandwich Day on Friday to Girard police Officer Justin Leo, who was killed Oct. 21 while responding to a domestic-violence call.

Kravitz will offer its signature corned beef, turkey and Reuben sandwiches for three for $24, since Leo’s badge number was No. 324. Kravitz also will donate $1 from each sandwich sold to a charitable fund in Leo’s honor.

Any member of the police departments in Girard, Liberty and Youngstown can get a free sandwich from the deli Friday.

Leo was a regular customer of Kravitz before he became an officer, according to a news release.
