YSU art students to exhibit works

YOUNGSTOWN

Soundscape, an exhibition of works by art students at Youngstown State University, will open Friday and run through Nov. 17 in the Eleanor Beecher Flad Pavilion at the DeYor Performing Arts Center, 260 W. Federal St., downtown. The lobby will be open daily from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

An opening reception will take place Friday from 6 to 9 p.m., during Youngstown’s First Friday art walk. Both the reception and the exhibition are free.

The artworks, by mixed media and painting students, reflect different approaches to visualization of sounds as materially invisible but visceral and emotional.

The students responded to a wide range of sounds, from classical music compositions to heavy metal, everyday noises, voices and specific instruments.
