The Eagles (5-5, 3-1 Portage Trail Conference County Division), who had already qualified for a Division VII playoff berth, cruised to a regular season-ending victory. No details were available at press time Saturday night.

SALEM

Quakers quarterback Mitch Davidson threw for 200 yards and four touchdowns on 10 of 22 passing. Davidson also ran for 20 yards and a touchdown. West Branch quarterback TJ DeShields threw a touchdowns but was also intercepted. DeShields was 20 of 35 for 193 yards. He also ran for 31 yards on nine carries. Warriors receiver Kyle Linhart caught 13 passes for 120 yards and a touchdown. Three different Salem receivers had over 50 yards receiving and a touchdown. Thomas Caserta ran for 33 yards on 13 attempts for the Warriors while Salem’s Turner Johnson ran for 58 yards on nine carries.

SOUTHINGTON

St. John scored 26 unanswered points in the fourth quarter after trailing 33-12 Friday night. Southington quarterback Trystan Mollohan ran for 150 yards on 14 carries. Mollohan also thre for 123 yards and a 9-yard touchdown to Chase Iser. St. John quarterback David Cumberledge threw for 265 yards and four touchdowns on 15 of 27 passing. All four TDs were to different receivers. Cumberledge also ran for 73 yards and a touchdown.

Mathews 35, Newbury 17

VIENNA

Dillon Canter scored three touchdowns for the Mustangs (6-4, 3-2 Northeastern Athletic Conference) Friday night. Dan Canter rushed for 192 yards and scored a touchdown. Mathews earned a playoff berth, finishing eighth in Division VII Region 25.

The top seven teams and individuals in the top 28 qualified. In Div. II, South Range’s Ian Pierson (8th) and Salem’s Hunter Christopher (16th) qualified. The top six teams and individuals in the top 24 qualified. In Div. III, McDonald finished second (the top four teams qualified). Ethan Domitrovich topped the Blue Devils with a ninth-place finish. Zack Canada was 20th, Brody Rupe 21st, Connor Symbolik 23rd and Carson Fortune 25th. Qualifying as individuals (Top 16) were Maplewood’s Ethan Sparks (8th), LaBrae’s Jakob Rose (10th), Badger’s Lincoln Hopkins (15th) and Maplewood’s Adam Burgard (16th) qualified. In the girls races, Niles’ Hailey Zelinsky (11th), Salem’s Carly Hall (13th), Poland’s Maggie Sebest (18th) and Howland’s Maria Dellimuti (23rd) qualified. In Div. III, McDonald won the meet and Maplewood finished third to qualify for state.
