Mohip moves to eliminate school board's ability to sue

YOUNGSTOWN — Youngstown City Schools CEO Krish Mohip announced this morning he will not approve funding for another appeal to House Bill 70.

Mohip was put in place by H.B. 70, which enables him to lead the schools with state-appointed academic distress commission oversight. Both are now in place in the city. He refers to the elected school board as an advisory board.

Mohip signed a resolution this morning halting district funding of these types of lawsuits, or any legal services that will hinder the success of the Strategic Plan.

If the school board wants to continue to be a part of an appeal, it will need another source of funding, not from the district itself, according to a district news release sent this morning.
