ASSOCIATIONS

CLUBS

Canfield Lions Club will meet Thursday at A La Cart Catering, 429 Lisbon St., Canfield. Dinner will take place at 6:30 p.m. with the meeting to follow at 7 p.m. Wayne Christen, district Governor, will speak.

Warren Women's Connection, an affiliate of Stonecroft Ministries, invites all women to attend a luncheon titled, “Our Annual Country Fair, that will take place from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Nov. 13 at Delucia’s Banquet Center, 2610 Elm Road NE, Warren. Marty Campana will be the special auctioneer, and there will be drawings for gift baskets and the sale of baked goods and gently used items. Speaker will be Sandy Barton. GUILDS

LIBRARY FRIENDS

The Friends of the Poland Library will meet Nov. 7 at the Poland Library. There will be a coffee hour at 9:30 a.m. with the program and business meeting to follow. Melissa Karman, director of the Sutliff Museum in Warren, will speak on “Myths of the Underground Railroad.” Hostesses will be Rekha Desai, Susan Faulkner, Mary Jane Palvalko and Adele Webber. Donations of books, magazines, CDs, DVDs, are accepted at each meeting for the Poland Friends’ book cart. The meeting is open to the public, and new members are welcome. Membership dues are $10.

POLITICAL CLUBS

Canfield Republican Women's Club dinner meeting is scheduled for 6 p.m. Wednesday at A La Cart Catering, 429 Lisbon St. The guest speaker will be Auditor Dave Yost who is running for Ohio Attorney General. Bring signup lists for the 2017 White House Christmas ornaments. The buffet dinner is $15. Spouses and friends are encouraged to attend. SORORITIES

Beta Chi Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma will meet at 6 p.m. Thursday at Ciminero’s Banquet Center, 123 Main St., Niles. There will be an auction and shopping before dinner, and dinner will be served at 6:30. Members are asked to arrive at 5 p.m. so that auction items may be displayed. Cost of the meal is $17 which includes dessert.

SUPPORT GROUPS

Alzheimer Network Family Support Groups will meet at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Children’s Rehabilitation, 855 Howland-Wilson Road, Howland. Family members and caregivers are welcome to attend. All meetings are offered at no charge. For information, call 330-788-9755.

Codependency and Grief Support Group will meet Tuesday at 10 a.m. at the Chapel of Sheepfold Ministries, 233 North Ave. Sharon, Pa. A meeting will also take place at 7 p.m. at the care center of the Kelley-Robb-Cummins Funeral Home, North Main St., Hubbard. Group sessions are free but participants must register to participate. Friendship Train 12-Step Support Group meets from 6 to 7 p.m. Wednesdays at Rising Star Baptist Church, 2943 Wardle Ave. People who are trying to overcome any addiction are welcome and encouraged to attend. Those attending should enter through the church’s lower parking lot off Wardle.

NAMI Mahoning Valley offers support groups for those who deal with mental illness. Support groups meet as follows: Girard Family Support, first Thursday of each month at 11 a.m. at the Girard Library, 105 E. Prospect St., and Austintown Family Support Group, 7 p.m. the second Tuesday of each month at Alta Care, 142 Javit Court. Poland United Methodist Church, 1940 Boardman Poland Road, is hosting Hope for the Holidays at 2 p.m. Nov. 18. The program is for people who are coping with grief during the holiday season. For information, call 330-757-1553.

Portage County Chapter 600 of International Parents without Partners will host a deep-fry turkey dinner with side dishes, desserts and hot beverages from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Nov. 4 at the Ritchie Memorial Shelter House pavilion, 109 West Ave., Tallmadge. Members and nonmembers are $7 per person. After the dinner, from 7:30 to 11:30 p.m., the chapter will have its regular monthly dance, also open to the public. Nonmembers are invited to join the PWP members in celebrating the “Post Halloween” dance theme, and are encouraged to wear a costume. There will be prizes given for the prettiest, ugliest and most original costumes. Cost for the dance is $6 for PWP members and $8 for nonmembers. PWP is a single parent support group, with one common point: members are all single parents, whether due to death, divorce, separation or having never been married. The chapters are mainly an educational and family support group, but are active in other endeavors. The members take time to have fun, not only with other adults, but also with their children. TOPS 327 is seeking new members who want to Take Off Pounds Sensibly. Meeting will take place Monday at Christ Church Presbyterian, 1933 Canfield Road, Boardman. Mahoning Valley Korean War Veterans Association meets at 9 a.m. every Friday at Denny’s Restaurant in Austintown. New members are welcome.
