Austintown library offered a class designed for beginners at paper crafting in their meeting room on Sept. 26.
Librarians Cindy Mawhinney and Lindsay Platt placed 22 different crafting stations on tables in their meeting room. The tools ranged from beginner’s tools, such as a hole puncher, to more advanced tools such as the embossing heat gun.
Patrons of Mawhinney’s “Stamping with Cindy“ program and Platt’s “Paper Crafting Corner“ came to the event despite knowing most of the equipment. One participant who does not regular either of their classes did show up and learned about a few tools she had not used.
Though many patrons had worked with the equipment before, they still found new tools to use. The librarians had brought some of their own tools from home and demonstrated how to use them, such as a paper cutting board that could make various shapes. One person who frequents Platt’s class said she loved “the scissors because of all the different designs,“ as opposed to a straight or zigzag cut.
Most of the people at the event walked freely between stations. Platt walked around and helped anyone who wanted it. Mawhinney held demonstrations of different tools at the top of the room.
