It’s just scary how big Halloween has become. To put the holiday’s magnitude into focus, the personal finance site WalletHub has compiled some “by the numbers” facts. Here are a handful of them:

v $9.1 billion: The total amount of projected spending in the United States in 2017 (this includes $3.35 billion on costumes).

v 62 percent: The share of parents who admit to secretly eating their child’s Halloween candy.

v 36 percent: The share of parents who think it’s OK to let their child trick-or-treat alone by age 12 or 13.

v 30,581: The record number of jack-o-lanterns that were lit at once in Keene, N.H., in October 2013.

v 22.7 percent: The share of Americans who plan to visit a haunted house.

“Modern Family” (9 p.m., ABC): Phil and Claire (Ty Burrell and Julie Bowen) still want to celebrate Halloween in a big way, but it seems no one shares their same enthusiasm making them wonder if maybe everyone is right.

“Designated Survivor” (10 p.m., ABC): When a senator appears on the national news and misrepresents a private conversation with the president, Kirkman must win back the American people’s trust.
