CIRV program urges participants to not commit domestic violence

YOUNGSTOWN

The city’s Community Initiative to Reduce Violence program had a session today urging participants to not commit domestic violence.

The five men who attended the event in city council chambers haven’t been charged with domestic violence, but police have been called to their houses for potential problems, said city Prosecutor Dana Lantz.

“The goal is prevention versus prosecution,” she said. “If we can reach one or two of them, it’s an accomplishment.”

Law enforcement officials spoke to the men about not escalating their issues into domestic violence while social service agency representatives offered assistance, including counseling, to them.
